January 6, 2017 | Obituary

Leonard B Tessier passed away on January 6, 2017 at Wingate on Blackstone, In Providence,
after a courageous battle with cancer. He was a lifelong resident of Pawtucket and the son of the late Lionel and Annette (Bessette) Tessier.

Leonard attended St. Cecilia’s School and Sacred Heart Academy. He was an athlete and played baseball for Sacred Heart Academy and American Legion Ball. He served three years in the United States Navy aboard The USS Chevalier, touring much of the PacifiC.

Upon returning, he was employed at Industrial Nalional Bank which became Fleet and than Bank of America. He started as a teller, and retired as a mortgage underwriter in 2001, after 48 years of service.

He was a communicant of St. Cecilia’s church, the treasurer of the Rhode Island Reds Historical Society, and a volunteer for the Rhoda Island Food Bank.

Leonard is survived by his two children: his daughter, Donna Tessler of Pawtucket and her sons Ryan Wilk and his wife Renee (Seitz) Wilk of Providence and Jesse Tessier of Pawtucket; and his son, Michael Tessier of Warwick and his son Michael Tessier Jr. He leaves behind two sisters, Rita Bouthillier of Rumford and Madeleine Boudreau of Attleboro. His brother Laurent Tessler passed away In 2013. Len also leaves behind his dear friend and companion Carolyn Faubert of North Smithfield.

Services will be held Friday, January 13 from 5-8 PM at Darlington Mortuary, Pawtucket. A mass of Christian burial will follow on Saturday Jan, 14 at St. John Paul II Church (St. Cecilia’s), Central Ave, Pawtucket at 10 AM. In lieu of nowers, donations can be made to the RI Food Bank or RI Reds Historical Society.
